West Main Behavioral Health
West Main Behavioral Health (WMBH) is the addictions treatment
component of Behavioral Health of Waterbury Hospital. Our
multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and addiction counselors
provides outpatient and partial hospitalization services to
individuals suffering from addictive and dual-diagnosis disorders.
Outpatient Services
Group, individual, family/couples counseling and psychiatric
assessment and management are available Monday through Friday, with
evening hours by appointment.
Intensive Outpatient Service (IOP)
IOP is a highly flexible and intensive program that meets multiple
times per week. Services provided are based on the clinical needs of
the substance-abusing, or substance-dependent individual. Programs are
available during the day and in the evening.
Partial Hospitalization Programs
Morning Program (8 a.m. - noon, six days per week): This
program provides outpatient detoxification for alcohol and drugs,
including opiates. Day Program: This is a
non-residential, intensive treatment program for adults with addictive
disorders. Treatment for dual disorders (mental illness and substance
abuse) is available within this program.
About Our Staff
Our clinical staff is composed of physicians who are either certified
in addiction medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine,
or who are board-certified in psychiatry, and certified substance
abuse counselors, some of whom are also registered nurses with
additional certification in chemical-dependency nursing.

Adult Services - The Center for Geropsychiatry
The Center for Geropsychiatry provides comprehensive ambulatory
services and treatment to individuals age 55 and older or to
individuals who are prematurely facing issues related to later life. A
multidisciplinary team of caring professionals work collaboratively in
an effort to provide treatment designed to meet the specific needs of
older adults who present with a variety of emotional and psychiatric
disorders.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to assist individuals and
their families and/or significant others in the resolution of
identified psychiatric or emotional disorders. Designed with the older
adult in mind, these programs provide comprehensive diagnostic
assessment and treatment. The IOP is recommended for those individuals
who do not require the intensity of a partial hospital program, but
for whom weekly outpatient services are inadequate. Flexible treatment
times are available.

Grandview Adult Behavioral Health
Grandview Adult Behavioral Health is a component of the ambulatory
care services of Behavioral Health of Waterbury Hospital. Grandview
Adult Behavioral Health provides a full range of behavioral health
services to adults age 18 to 60 who suffer from prolonged mental
illness. Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health
professionals, a full continuum of ambulatory services promote
recovery from psychiatric disorders through active treatment outside
of an inpatient setting. Services include:
Partial Hospital Program (PHP)
The most intensive level of ambulatory care, the Partial Hospital
Program offers four hours of daily therapy. The treatment program
consists of comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment and evaluation,
group therapy, milieu therapy and pharmacotherapy. Individual therapy,
couple and family therapies, are also provided when clinically
indicated. Specialized groups for dually diagnosed individuals are
offered.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
IOP is a highly flexible and intensive program. In addition to
comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment and evaluation, the
treatment program consists of various therapies tailored to meet the
needs of the individual. Specialized groups for dually diagnosed
individuals are offered.
Dialetical Behavior Therapy is a cognitive-based therapy aimed
primarily at individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, or
those who experience mood lability and/or self-destructive behavior.
The program runs four days a week.
