joint project of Federal agencies with responsibility for consumer
protection. Provides links to online Federal information resources in
categories such as Food, Health, Product Safety, Transportation, and
others.

Best Buy Drugs is a
public education project of Consumers Union, the publisher of
Consumer Reports.
eMedicine Consumer Health medical
information written by physicians for patients and consumers on
important health topics
Family Doctor is
a site produced by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Genetics Home
Referenceis a guide
to understanding genetic conditions and is produced by the National
Library of Medicine.
Healthfinder is
a site developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
together with other Federal agencies.
Healia is
a specialized search engine offers some unique features, including
filters that limit to age, gender, heritage, and reading ability;
broader and narrow search terms; the ability to modify font size and
view search history; and categorization of results under Prevention,
Causes/Risk, Symptoms, Diagnosis/Tests, and Treatment tabs.

Products Databasecontains

Digital Library is
free to Connecticut residents. "Search thousands of popular and

and wellness information and much more. Also includes reQuest which is
a database containing the book and journal holdings of most libraries
in Connecticut. To access from
home you will need to type in the barcode number from your public
library card.

a site owned by the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education & Research.
There are many sections to explore such as diseases and conditions,

from the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of
Health. It contains a vast array of health information in print as
well as visual format.
Merck Manual
Second Home Edition is
a manual of medical information for the general public.
National Cancer
Institute contains
comprehensive medical information from the National Institutes of
Health /National Cancer institute.
National
Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information a
resource for current information and materials concerning substance
abuse prevention and treatment. Includes information for specific
audiences(populations) and
also a section on
culture and prevention.
National Health
Information Center (NHIC)-
a health information referral service established by the U.S.
Dept. of Health and Human Services to help professionals and the
public locate organizations, publications, and other sources of health
information.

Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): Health Information-
includes some information in
