Key Information for Current Residents
Safety/Fatigue
If at any point a resident is concerned about safely driving home following a set of duty hours, they may obtain a ride-share and seek reimbursement from the Surgery office. Residents can also contact the hospital Security Office 203.573.5518 to arrange a ride home. Additionally, the Program Director, Associate Director or Surgical Coordinator can also provide transportation home.
If a resident is concerned about safety on their walk from the hospital to their car, they can dial 0 from any hospital phone or call the main number 203.573.6000, ask for security, and request an escort.
Resident Ombudsman
Residents can contact Robert Bitta, M.D. Dr. Botta’s contact information can be obtained from the Chief Residents or the Program Coordinator.
Lactation Room
There are two lactation rooms available for nursing mothers. The Surgery program has a resident lounge/wellness room which may be used as a lactation room if necessary. There is a lock available for privacy. Additionally, there is an Employee Lactation Room located in the Emergency Department near the Administrative offices/Conference Room. The lactation room has a privacy lock from the inside when the room is occupied.'
Grievance Procedure
Issues or concerns of residents are best addressed locally with your Program Director, or the Chair of your department.
In the event that these can’t be resolved locally, residents can contact the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), Dr. Scott Kurtzman at scott.kurtzman@quinnipiac.edu or via phone 203 582-7447.
