It has been six months since UConn Health came to Waterbury. Since then, we have been focusing on quality, hiring nurses and other caregivers, investing in your hospital, strengthening services, upgrading technology, reaching out to our neighbors, and fundamentally building a more connected healthcare system for Greater Waterbury.
QUALITY AND SAFETY OUR 1st PRIORITY
We have launched new initiatives focused on patient experience, infection prevention, care coordination, reducing re-admissions and continuously improving the quality and safety of the care we provide.

New medical equipment. New technology. Emergency Department improvements. Diagnostic imaging and surgical equipment. Patient care and facility improvements. We are investing in Waterbury's healthcare future.
244 NEW TEAM MEMBERS
We have welcomed 244 new employees, including 51 experienced RNs and 26 new graduate nurses—along with new physicians, advanced practice providers and other healthcare professionals.
MORE CARE. CLOSER TO HOME.
We have finalized plans to expand Emergency Department capacity, strengthened maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal services, expanded behavioral health access, and continued recruiting physicians and providers in specialties our community needs.
5-STAR CARE AT HOME
Our Health at Home agency maintained a 5-star patient satisfaction rating throughout the transition and earned SHPBest recognition—placing it among the top 20% of agencies for patient-experience performance.
15,000+ NEIGHBORS REACHED
We have been getting back out into the community. In six months, our team participated in 109 community events, screenings, educational programs, classes, and outreach activities, reaching more than 15,000 people throughout Greater Waterbury.
For more than 135 years, Waterbury Hospital has been here for this community. Now, together with UConn Health, we are rebuilding, reinvesting, and creating something even stronger-a connected system of care serving you in the hospital, in the community and in your home. There is much more work to do. But we are proud of how far we have come, and we are excited about where we are going together.
