Hero Nurse saves a life following car accident

Published:

A family recently reached out to Waterbury Hospital, wanting to make sure one of our ER nurses didn't go unrecognized for what she did. On Thursday, June 25, ER nurse Paige Parkhouse-Baughn witnessed a car accident while off duty. Without hesitation, she stopped to help.

She found the driver pulseless and in full cardiac arrest. Six months pregnant, Paige didn't hesitate. She immediately put her clinical skills to work, performing CPR for over 30 minutes until emergency personnel arrived. The driver was airlifted to the hospital where doctors found a blockage in her right coronary artery, the cause of the cardiac arrest. Thanks to Paige's quick thinking and steady hands, she is doing well today.

Paige began her journey at Waterbury Hospital as a Patient Care Associate before earning her nursing degree. Her training, instinct, and compassion came together in a moment that mattered most, and we are so proud to call her one of our own.
