William Pizzuto, PhD Named Waterbury HEALTH Community Champion
During this year’s 2018 Community Golf Classic, William Pizzuto, PhD, Campus Director of the University of Connecticut, Waterbury, will be honored and recognized for the tremendous contributions he has made to the community over the last 30 years. The Waterbury HEALTH Community Champion Award will be presented during an evening reception on Monday, September 17, preceding the full-day golf tournament on Tuesday, September 18.
“Dr. Pizzuto is known throughout the City and the region as a selfless advocate serving many organizations in the community,” said Peter Adamo, President & CEO of Waterbury HEALTH. “We wanted to celebrate all he has done by presenting him with the inaugural Waterbury HEALTH Community Champion Award.”
Dr. Pizzuto is currently serving as the chairman of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce, an Advisory Board member for Waterbury Hospital, Naugatuck Valley Community College, and the Savings Bank of Danbury, and Board member and Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee for the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Committee. His accomplishments and distinguished career have included being an Alderman for the City of Waterbury, Director of the Palace Theater Group, Police Commissioner and Fire Commissioner of the City of Waterbury, and recipient of the Chamber’s first Stephen Sasala II Community Partnership Award,
The award will be presented on Monday, September 17 at a reception at the Marriott Courtyard, Downtown Waterbury, which is being held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception is a part of a unique event, sponsored by the Waterbury Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. and Waterbury HEALTH in partnership with the NFL Alumni Association, which includes a golf tournament at The Country Club of Waterbury.
