Dr. Erik J. Carlson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, shoulder, and upper extremity surgery. At Active Orthopaedics, P.C. in Middlebury, he provides expert, patient-focused care for rotator cuff tears, arthritis, tendon injuries, nerve damage, fractures, and sports-related conditions.
A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Carlson completed his orthopedic residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. His expertise includes arthroscopy, arthroplasty, minimally invasive techniques, and trauma care.
Dr. Carlson also serves as a faculty member for the Plancher Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Fellowship and is a clinical instructor for medical students at Quinnipiac University’s Netter School of Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is an executive board member and President-elect of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society.
