Michelle T. Mariani, M.D.

Dr. Teresa M. Mariani is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Waterbury Orthopaedic Associates, proudly serving patients across Waterbury and Greater Central Connecticut. She specializes in sports medicine, fracture management, joint replacement surgery, and the arthroscopic management of shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle conditions, helping patients of all ages return to an active, pain-free lifestyle.

As a former elite gymnast, Dr. Mariani brings a unique perspective to her practice, understanding firsthand the challenges of injuries and the importance of safe recovery. Dr. Mariani has experience in team medical coverage at every level of competition, including Saint Mark’s High School, College of Holy Cross, Boston Renegades, Boston Red Sox, and Worcester State College. Currently, she supports local student-athletes as the team physician at Watertown High School football games. She fosters a patient-first approach, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment options to support long-term joint health, performance, and quality of life.

Dr. Mariani graduated magna cum laud from Jefferson Medical College, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Tufts New England Medical Center and advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Beyond her practice, Dr. Mariani enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Together, they can often be found outdoors, staying active, or cheering on their favorite baseball teams.
