Juan Diego Holguin, MD
Director, Comprehensive Weight Management Program
Juan Diego Holguin, MD, specializes in minimally invasive, robotic and weight loss surgery.
Dr. Holguin graduated Magma Cum Laude from Western Connecticut State University and received his medical degree in 2009 from University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Dr. Holguin completed a fellowship in Advanced GI Minimally Invasive at Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami, Florida, focusing on robotic and weight loss surgery.
A native of Colombia, Dr. Holguin, came to the United States as a child and grew up in Norwalk with his extended family. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Holguin maintains strong ties to his extended family and believes in helping patients improve their health through surgical weight loss.
Dr. Holguin hobbies include soccer and lacrosse. A former college soccer star he plays in a local adult league. He lives in Waterbury with his wife.
“I enjoy helping patients who have medical issues related to weight. When they lose weight they basically eliminate a lot of their medial issues and that helps them and live better lives. ” – Dr. Holguin.

Eulalia Ortiz, LPN
Eulalia serves as the patient navigator guiding patients through the entire process before and after surgery. She is fluent in Spanish and can assist you with scheduling and questions.

Violet Pastorkova-Jaouen, RDN, CD-N
Violet is a registered dietitian who holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management.
With almost 20 years of experience in nutrition, she has worked in different settings including a traumatic brain injury center, rehabs and nursing homes. Violet has helped many patients in clinical settings as well as in private practice. She has been a registered dietitian since 2006. She is credentialed with Medicare and most commercial insurance companies. Violet comes from a very international family and has a love for different cultures, foods and languages. She is bi-lingual in Spanish and is learning French.
“I absolutely love what I do! It is so rewarding to help my patients reach their own personal weight goals. They are not only becoming healthier physically but their spirits are getting energized with the possibilities of finally conquering this battle with food and weight. My mother taught me that food is life, good medicine and magic. She taught me that you are what you eat so nourish your body don’t just feed it. She initiated this lifestyle in me and I hope to ignite that in my patients.”
