Waterbury Hospital recognizes that patient visitation is an important component of the hospital experience. Patients have the right to receive visitors that they have designated unless their presence infringers on others’ rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The patient also has the right to withdraw the consent for a person to visit. The designated visitors can be spouse, domestic partner (including same sex partner), friend, or family member. A support person may make this designation on behalf of the patient, if appropriate.
Visiting Hours: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Maternity: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fathers/significant others may visit at any time.
Intensive Care Unit: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The visiting policy is individualized to meet patient and family/support person’s needs. All visitors are asked to use the phones in the waiting room to check with staff prior to entering the ICU.
Pomeroy 8 Inpatient Psychiatry:
Visiting Hours - Monday thru Friday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 2.
Visitor Rules: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and supervised at all times.
All visitors should report to the Information Desk in the lobby upon entering the hospital.
Visitors must be free of COVID-19 symptoms and will be required to be screened via a questionnaire:
Visitors will be asked the following:
Do you have any COVID symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, stuffy nose, fever, diarrhea or vomiting?
In the last 14 days, have you been in contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID?
In the last 14 days, have you tested positive for COVID?
- All visitors must wear a mask at all times, (masks are provided to those who do not have one).
All visitors must follow our Infection Prevention Guidelines when visiting patients. If a patient is designated by Infection Prevention to be on special isolation, visitors will be asked to check with nursing before entering a patient’s room in order to receive any special instructions.
Visitation guidelines are available at that site and all visitors will be asked to follow Hospital rules and regulations throughout their visit.
After Hours Visits: Exceptions may be made to accommodate after hours visitors. Nursing and Security need to be aware of the visit and as stated before must not infringe upon the rights or safety of others. Decisions for approval of after-hours visitors are made on a case-by-case basis by the Administrative Nursing Supervisor
